Mrs. Peters came out of her classroom on Wednesday morning only to find a surprise party awaiting her in the high school lobby!

We’ll never forget you, Mrs. Peters!

Wednesday, May 11 was an exciting day at Jones County High School!  Many people joined together to share music, speeches, cupcakes, hugs and tears all  in honor of  Mrs. Peters’ years of teaching and upcoming retirement.
The high school lobby was set  to a tee with signs, decorations and desserts. Each high school class decorated a sign that included their signatures and memories of Mrs. Peters’ classes and influence.
When the time came for the surprise party to begin, a student sneakily persuaded Mrs. Peters to come out of her classroom into the lobby. She hesitantly agreed and with a shrug in her shoulders entered the lobby only to find a large crowd of people there ready to celebrate! Everybody cheered, laughed and chanted for Mrs. Peters as she stood in shock with a bright smile upon her face. After a brief dedication from Mrs. Miller, the choir performed a special song with lyrics expressing “We will never forget you.” There were few dry eyes in the school and  Mrs. Peters even questioned,
“You are all just trying to make me cry, aren’t you?”
It was impossible to bypass the emotional and meaningful atmosphere in the high school lobby on Wednesday morning. The surprise party was just a small token of how truly loved and appreciated Mrs. Peters is by all of her students, co-workers and friends. Thank you, Margie, for your work and influence! You will be greatly missed! May God bless your future endeavours!
