Local girls participate in first-ever national Special Olympics relay

Bison students Jozee Veal and Jaylie Beckman were part of an historic, nationwide event last week. Jozee, daughter of Chris and Jennifer Veal, Meadow; and Jaylie, daughter of Dan Beckman and Jenny Beckman, Prairie City - along with Team JJ - carried a Special Olympics torch for five miles in the first-ever Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America in Rapid City on June 22.
    Jozee will be a sixth grader at Bison Elementary in the fall and Jaylie will begin 7th grade in junior high.
