Betty Baranko, 92, Dickinson, N.D., died Feb. 24, 2016, at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. 
 
Betty’s Parastas was Feb. 29, 2016, at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fairfield, N.D., with Fr. Taras Miles presiding. 
 
Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fairfield.
 
Betty Klym was born Feb. 24, 1924, on the family farm in Billings County, N.D., the daughter of George and Hafia (Chorney) Klym. She grew up on a farm in the Gorham community. She lived there until her marriage to Michael Baranko on May 27, 1947, at St. Josephat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gorham. Six months following their marriage, they purchased Baranko Grocery and Post Office. In the fall of 1972, they moved to what is now known as South Fairfield, and in 2001 they moved to Dickinson. 
 
Betty belonged to the UCI, North Dakota Council of the Arts, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed making Ukrainian Easter eggs, crocheting, embroidery, cake decorating, flower making and gardening. In 1971, she went to Montreal to demonstrate her Ukrainian egg decorating, which was sponsored by the Smithsonian Institute and held during the World Fair. 
 
Betty is survived by her children, Ronald (Laurie) Baranko, Mesa, Ariz., Leatta (Brant) Sundall, Philip, S.D., Thomas (Darla) Baranko, Dickinson, Donna Baranko, Williston, LeAnn (Harris) Olson, Williston, and Terry Baranko, Dickinson; grandchildren, Lance (Kelli) Sundall, Joel (Megan) Baranko, Chris Baranko, Mike (Christine) Lawyer, and Stephanie Olson; seven great-grandchildren, Michaela and Ben Lawyer, Brodi, Carter and Bentley Sundall, Vivian and Julia Baranko; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
 
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 19,2004; her parents; four brothers; one sister; and a grandson, Ben Lawyer.
