It is hard to put into words how proud I am of these girls. – Coach Smith
The Region 7B championship match between the District 14B top team and the District 13B top team was Tuesday, Nov. 10, in Wall.
The match between the Philip Lady Scotties and the Lyman Raiders ended with Philip on top. Lyman was seeded in District 13B as number two, and had beaten Kadoka Area and Jones County to get to the region match.
So far, the Philip Lady Scotties have earned a 2015 record of 25 match wins and five losses.
The Scotties will next compete in the State B Volleyball Tournament, Nov. 19-21, in Sioux Falls.
“The girls did what they needed to do Tuesday night,” said Philip head volleyball coach Ella Smith. “They were not ready for their season to be over yet. Regular season games are what help us prepare all season for districts, which leads to regions, which leads to state.
“It is hard to put into words how proud I am of these girls. They never gave up and continue to push themselves and each other to get better. They have learned to trust one another and trust in what Dani (Fitch) and I coach, and you can see that at practice and when they are out competing against an opponent.
“State is the finale of our season, win or lose. This group of girls will give everything they have and play their hearts out at state. Thank you to the Scotties community for supporting our volleyball team throughout this season. We hope to see you at state,” said Smith.
