Rev. Donald Oakley (Don) Nesheim

Donald passed peacefully on 1/2/2024 with family by his side at Riley Crossing Memory Care in Chanhassen MN after a long and mirthful battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. 
Don was born on 12/18/1937 in Dupree SD to Melvin Alfred Nesheim and Marjorie (Jeffries) Nesheim. 
Don lived a full life with two distinct careers. He served the US Army Security Agency for 21 years followed by 18 years as a full-time Episcopal Priest in SD and MN. Throughout his life he maintained his sense of humor and a rosy outlook. Don was man who served with a strong sense of duty, he brought out the best in those around him, and supported his family and friends with staunch loyalty and good cheer. 
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years Alene (Kochersberger) Nesheim, parents Melvin and Marjorie Nesheim, brother David J. Nesheim, and sister Rose Cardinali. 
He is survived by his daughter Deb (Paul) Alexander, Chaska, MN; son Bob (Elissa) Nesheim, Minneapolis, MN; son David (Kymm) Nesheim, Chadron, NE; sisters Ruth Curtis and Jan Charbonneau, Spokane, WA; brother Vince Nesheim, Sioux Falls, SD; and many cousins. 
Don was blessed with seven grandchildren and one great-child. He was always present in their lives, celebrating birthdays and milestones in person whenever possible. 
His ashes will be interned at 10:30 am on 7/5/24 at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis SD with full military honors. Celebration of Life follows at the Piedmont Amercian Legion from Noon to 3 pm.
