Patricia "Patsy" Fenner
Patricia Jane "Patsy" Fenner, 84 passed away on December 30, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society of New Underwood. She was born March 18, 1940 to Willard & Myrtle (Davick) Quinn. At the age of 3, they moved to the ranch in New Underwood.
On May 25, 1957, Patsy married Merlyn in Rapid City at the Presbyterian Manse. Later they were joined by Norm, Allen & Gloria. Patsy stayed home to raise her family. While doing so, she kept busy in the garden, yard, flowers, fruit trees, canning, and sewing. She babysat for several families over several years. She was part of the fireman's auxiliary.
In 1975, Patsy started delivering mail on a rural route in Rapid Valley and then moved to a rural route in New Underwood for many years. She retired after 32 years. While working for the postal service, Patsy & Merlyn were busy traveling to postal conventions, which they really enjoyed and they met many new friends. She also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in their sporting events.
Patsy is survived by her children, Norm (Robin) Fenner of Rapid City, Allen (Amy) Fenner of Gillette, WY, and Gloria (Lynn) Smith of New Underwood; 10 grandchildren, 23, soon to be 24, great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Quinn of Lone Rock, WI; sister, Carol (Mack) Deveraux of Calloway NE; and sister-in-law, Kay Quinn of Divide, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlyn; sister, Dolores Crosbie; brother, Jim Quinn; sisters-in-law, Joyce Quinn & Ellen DeGeest; brother-in-law, Albert Crosbie; parents, Willard & Myrtle Quinn; and in-laws, James & Elora Fenner.
A special thank you to the staff of the Good Samaritan Society of New Underwood for taking such good care of Mom and treating her like part of their own family.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the New Underwood Community Church. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Interment will be at 12 p.m. at the New Underwood Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at the New Underwood Community Center.
A memorial has been established.
