A quiet lady that never traveled far, had a large influence in the neighborhood in which she lived. Anna Rose Dailey Woll, 92, rural Bison, SD died on June 23, 2024 in Bismarck, ND.
Anna Rose was born July 2, 1931 in Bison, SD to Glen and Anna Louise (Schecher) Dailey. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. After graduating from Bison High School, Anna Rose worked in the Bank of Lemmon for a year before she and her sister Lela Mae attended teacher college in Aberdeen. She taught grades 1-8 at Fredlund School and Scotch Cap School.
On August 10, 1953 Anna Rose was married to Kenneth Woll. To this union were born three children –
Melvin, JoAnn and Karen. Anna Rose fully embraced being a wife, farm hand and mother. For many years, that was her three full time jobs.
Since she only had three full time jobs, she took on a FEW extra things: gardening and sharing those vegetables with half of Perkins county; sharing tomato plants if you wished to grow your own; cooked and canned food, both for her family and for others; sewing for herself and her girls; grew lovely flowers that she put into arrangements for the church and friends; yearly Vacation Bible School for a church with very few kids, so she recruited the children in Bison; teaching Sabbath School at the Adventist Church; substitute taught; worked as a teacher's aide; inspired us all with her beautiful perfect Palmer method handwriting; after a knee-replacement, she learned to tole paint and lovingly shared her creations with others.
Anna Rose was very thrilled when she could take on a new title – one she chose herself – Grammie, She had three granddaughters that she adored – Julianna Lu, Katrina Michelle, and Jalyssa Di. Her most prized possessions were the pictures of the girls and gifts that they made or helped to make.
She lived on the home place and was doing quite well for her age. But behind the scenes, her heart was quietly wearing out and congestive heart failure caused her death, just days shy of her 93rd birthday.
Anna Rose was proceeded in death by her husband Kenneth; parents Glen and Anna Louise Dailey; and sister Lela Mae Englehart.
She is survived by son, Melvin; daughters JoAnn and Karen; granddaughters Julianna, Katrina and Jalyssa.
A memorial service will be held on July 7, 2024 at the Bison Seventh-day Adventist Church at 2:00 p.m.
