Pat John

Pat John was born October 21, 1941 in Pierre, South Dakota. He was raised in Prairie City, South Dakota by Ike and Claire John. He earned his Bachelors Degree in History from Black Hills State College in Spearfish, SD and a Masters Degree in Elementary Administration from Winnona, MN.
After working as a school administrator on the Pine Ridge and Standing Rock Reservations in SD, he and Evelyn moved to Sparta, WI then Mayville, WI where he served as the Principal within the respective school districts. Pat and Evelyn moved to The Villages, FL in 2005 where they’ve met many great people and friends in the “Happiest Place on Earth.”
Pat was a Master in the kitchen, on the grill and in the garden. Unfortunately, the gardening skills did not transfer to his daughters. However, Pat loved spending time with his grandchildren in the backyard showing them the flowers, herbs and shrubs he grew while the sons-in-law were in awe of his immaculate lawncare, to which they never quite added up. Pat also loved watching the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badger Football, as long as the games were over by 8:00 p.m.. He was a self-described “accomplished” cribbage player. However, based on the games against former mentioned sons-in-law, that stature is questionable.
Pat is survived by the love of his life, Evelyn (Vetter) John, to whom he was married for 56 years. Pat is also survived by his two daughters Charlene John-Geschke (Clay) of Chicago, IL and Kimberley Hoepker (Todd) of Tampa, FL, of whom he was very proud, as well as three grandchildren Taylor Hoepker, Payton Geschke and Sydney Hoepker.
Pat passed away into eternal peace on August 18th, 2018. Pat’s family and friends gathered to celebrate his life, Saturday, August 25, 2018 in the Banks/Page-Theus Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to One Breath at A Time at www.onebreathatatime.net . The family would also like to thank the doctors and staff of Tampa General Hospital for all they’ve done over the last eight years. The additional time you provided us with Pat was immeasurable.
