Marvin Jensen, age 77

Marvin Jensen

Marvin Jensen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, left this world January 7, 2018, to be with his Lord in Heaven.

Marvin was born November 18, 1939, to Christian and Belle (Painter) Jensen at West Weigand Place in Eagle Butte, SD. He married JoAnn Selby on December 22, 1961, in Isabel. They lived in Dupree for three years then lived in Lantry for the next 10 years working for McDaniel's Implement. Next he worked on his parent’s farm for a number of years, before finally moving to Faith, SD, in 1974 where they purchased the old Udager house and have resided there until his passing. In Faith, he worked as a mechanic at many different places, a custodian at the Faith High School and CRST Head Start, and as a lock smith. He owned his own gas station in Lantry, SD, until it burned down in 1981. He loved tinkering around on old vehicles and tractors and driving around Durkee Lake watching the wildlife, rattle snake hunting, fishing, and stopping to visit and joke with his friends on the street or road. He was always a call away when someone was in need of any help or advice.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Jensen; children, Deloris Haibeck of Rapid City, SD, Marvin Jensen, Jr. (Doris) of Gillette, WY, Jeff (Barb) Jensen of Lantry, SD, Darlene (Zane) King of Faith, SD, Ronald (Paula) Jensen of Eagle Butte, SD, Gary (Kimberly) Jensen of Lantry, SD, and Bonny Jensen of Sturgis, SD; sisters, Janice Selby of Faith, SD, and Janelle Follette of Colorado; brothers, Lauren Jensen of Lantry, SD, and Roger (Barbara) Jensen of Sturgis, SD; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chris; mother, Belle; sister, Beulah; three brothers, Derl, Preston, and Lloyd; and son, Tracy Eugene.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the Faith Community Center.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Faith Community Center in Faith, SD, with Pastor Mark Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at the Faith Cemetery.
