Marcine E. Patterson

Marcine E. Patterson, age 74, Wall, S.D., died Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
  Marcine Elaine Patterson was born July 10, 1941, in Julesburg Colo. She was the middle child of Herman and Helen (Hahlweg) Marquardt. She grew up on the Marquardt family farm near Venango, Neb., where she graduated from High School. She attended Colorado State University where she studied home economics.
While in school she met and married Dean Patterson and after graduating they moved to the Patterson family farm near Wall, where they raised two boys, Scott and Kevin.
Marcine made a career teaching home economics and English as well as substituting at Wall High School for over 40 years. She enjoyed extracurricular activities including Declam, cheerleader advisor and taking students on trips all across the country from Cincinnati, Ohio to San Antonio, Texas.
She loved singing in the Wall Methodist Church choir on Sundays as well as in Easter and Christmas cantatas.
She was active as a 4-H leader and enjoyed baking, sewing, ceramics and other arts and crafts.
She loved her grandchildren, Dillan and Delany, dearly and visited them often.
Survivors include her husband, Dean, Wall; two sons, Scott Patterson, Chancellor, Kevin Patterson and his wife Diana; two granddaughters, Dillan and Delany, rural Sioux Falls; an older brother, Raymond Marquardt and his wife, Alberta, Gilbert, Ariz.; a younger brother, Kenny Marquardt and his wife, Mary, Wallace, Neb.; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Trevor Dean Patterson, son of Kevin and Diana.
Services were held Tuesday, September 1, at the Methodist Church in Wall, with Pastor Russell Masartis officiating.
Music was provided by Dorothy Shearer, organist, and the United Methodist Church choir.
Ushers were Jerry Johannesen, Bill Leonard and Bernard Foster. Pallbearers were Kent, Mark, Seth, Dain and Justin Patterson and Mark Marquardt.
Interment was at the Wall Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
Arrangements were with the Rush Funeral Chapel of Wall.
