Lorraine Brooks

Lorraine (Brech) Brooks, 78, went home to heaven after her courageous battle with cancer, Sept. 24, 2017 at Hospice of the Hills in Rapid City.
Lorraine was born Oct. 21, 1938 in New Underwood, to Joe and Frances Brech. She married the love of her life, Robert Brooks,  April 6, 1957. During their 60 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children and numerous family and friends.   She accompanied her husband for about 7 years while he traveled building powerlines. They eventually settled in Rapid City when Bob took a job with the government.
Lorraine was a dedicated member of St. Therese Catholic Church and active in the Minneluzahan Senior Citizen Center. She loved to play Bingo, camp, cook, and was a competitive card player. In her younger years she loved to dance.  She was a huge cat lover and enjoyed being around her family.  Lorraine enjoyed her traditions, especially her annual making of popcorn balls and caramel apples.  She was a very loving and involved mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother.  
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, Debi White, Jeff Holland and Rob Brooks, all of Rapid City; brother, Lynn (Rose) Brech, Sioux Falls; sister, Joanne Bloom, Rapid City; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Josh Brooks and her parents, Joe and Frances Brech.
  Visitation is from 4:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m  Thursday, Sept. 28,  at Kirk Funeral Home, Rapid City. Mass of Christian burial is at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at St. Therese Catholic Church.  
Burial is at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice House.   An online guestbook is available at kirkfuneralhome.com.
