Lavern Sell
Lavern Sell passed away August 3, 2024 at the age of 92.
Lavern was born November 25, 1931 in Wagner, South Dakota, to Clarence and Katherine Sell. He grew up on a ranch near Keya Paha, South Dakota. He was the third of 9 brothers and 3 sisters.
Lavern married Wanda Crawford on June 8, 1955, near Clearfield, SD. They had 4 children, Waneta Sell, Linda (Todd) Spath, Lamoine (Mary) Sell and Lonnie Sell.
Lavern owned the Standard Station in Sundance, WY in the late 50’s. He worked at Tracy Motor Co. in Sundance for 10 years. At times he was deputized to help control the Saturday night dance crowd. In 1965 they bought the ranch south of Sundance. He was also the Crook Co. weed and pest supervisor from 1976 to 1979.
Lavern is survived by his children; 4 brothers, Roy (Nancy), Jack (Delilah), Jim (Janice), Leanard (Phyllis), 3 sisters, Katherine Mann, Beryl Dvorak, Mary Schrader, 1 sister-in-law, Betty Sell, 7 grandchildren, Shelly Reimann (Rudy), Shon McDonald (Amy), T.J. Evans (Kara), Clint Sell (Raesha), Rachel Adam (Doug), Kate Alderson (Tom), and Colt Sell; 14 great-grandchildren, with 1 more arriving soon, Jazmine McDonald and Rowdy Reimann, Shelbe and Parker McDonald, Porter and Kai Evans, Cordell and Faith Sell, Josie, Zane and Rex Adam, Wrenley Alderson, Kyler and Orin Sell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lavern was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Clarence, Harold, Bill and infant Jerry; 2 sisters-in-law, Thelma and Ann; 3 brothers-in-law, Bud Mann, Roger Dvorak, and Ivan Schrader; 1 daughter-in-law, Deb Sell; and 1 son-in-law, Rod Hacker.
Graveside services will be August 17 at 11 a.m. at Green Mountain Cemetery in Sundance, WY, with lunch following at Sundance Senior Center.
