Kevin Jordan

March 4, 1969 - October 27, 2015
Kevin Jordan, 46, passed from this life Oct. 27, 2015, at The Hospice House, Rapid City, S.D.
Kevin John Jordan was born March 4, 1969, to Irving and Lu Anne (Lyon) Jordan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Faith.
Kevin attended United School, Faith Elementary and graduated from Faith High School in 1987. He continued his education by attending South Dakota State University and Black Hills State College.
While living in the Black Hills, Kevin worked a number of different jobs eventually becoming office manager at Equipment Service Professionals. In 2002, he joined the family ranch as a partner. Kevin’s skills learned from previous jobs were assets to the ranch. Also he was dedicated to improving the water supply on the ranch; Kevin spent many hours installing tanks and pipeline. Even on his toughest days, Kevin continued to work hard.
Kevin found great joy in the camaraderie of hunting and fishing with his friends. He was a lifetime Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Influenced by his brother-in-law, later Kevin became a Notre Dame fan. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing hot peppers. He used them to cook chili for the men and a milder version for “the girls.” Kevin had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. He spent time entertaining them by drawing pictures, telling stories and teasing about having a pet skunk in his pocket. His quick wit and smile will be remembered by those who met him.
The courage and tenacity that Kevin displayed during his illness was admired by those that were closest to him.
Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Irving and LuAnne Jordan, Faith; brothers, Kent (Eileen) Jordan, Wall, and Brett (Tara) Jordan, Faith; sisters, Deborah (William) Gropper, Faith, Margaret (Doug) Petersen, Lemmon, and Joan Jordan, Faith; grandmother, Margaret Lyon Reno, Lemmon; nieces and nephews, John and Sam Gropper, Drew (Hayle) Petersen, Anne (Marc) Hansen, Megan Petersen, Cale Baus, Sarah and Jared Jordan, Devin Martin, Kaylee and Emma Jordan; great-niece, Aurora Petersen; maternal uncles, Jim (Joan), Norman (Sue), Ralph (Shari) Lyon, and Mike Schoenfelder; paternal uncle, David (Donna) Jordan; maternal aunts, Barbara (Tony) Lorenz and Barbara (Bobbie) Lyon; and paternal aunts, Elsie Barnett, Ruby (David) Hanna and Irene Jordan.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, N.F. “Red” Lyon; paternal grandparents, John and Isabelle (Babcock) Jordan; maternal uncle, Vivan; paternal uncles, Bill, Adam, Frances, Herman, Walter, Johnny and Earl; maternal aunt, Laska; and paternal aunts, Helen, Doris and Belle.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Faith Community Center, with Fr. Jim Hoerter and Fr. Macin Grabacz officiating. Burial followed at the Plainview Cemetery west of Howes Corner.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established for a scholarship in Kevin’s memory with the Faith High School.
