Jessie Mae (Foster) Brewer, age 70

Jessie Mae Brewer

Jessie Mae (Foster) Brewer, age 70, died Jan. 15, 2018, in Billings, Mont.

Jessie Mae Foster was born to Mabel and James Foster in Philip, Jan. 25, 1947. She grew up in Midland the youngest of 10 children. She went to school in Midland and was involved in numerous activities including cheerleading and drama club. Her bubbly personality led her to be crowned prom queen. From a very young age, she was active in the Lutheran church and continued to be throughout her life.

She met the love of her life, John Brewer, at a dance in high school. Shortly thereafter, they were married on June 18,1966, and moved to Rapid City. They began a family, having five sons, Terry, Wes, Lacy, Charles and Aaron, and one daughter, Leah.

She enjoyed being a homemaker for many years, teaching her children how to have faith and love God with all their heart as well as those little things in life such as how to dance, hoola-hoop, ice skate, Indian wrestle, bake (especially pies) and, most importantly, to live, laugh, and love each and every moment.

After several years of raising her children, she tried her hand with a variety of jobs. Then found a job she really enjoyed as a food service provider with the Rapid City Area School District. She met many lifelong friends whom she kept in touch with regularly after her retirement.

Jessie enjoyed life to the fullest, always finding something fun to do with John. They went camping, paddle boating, fishing and even enjoyed trying their luck in Deadwood. Plus, John surprised her with a shiny red 1965 Mustang convertible for her birthday in which they took on many drives and entered into car shows. Jessie even won a trophy.

She loved her family and friends. She had a special bond with her sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews and countless friends she considered family and spent limitless hours visiting with them. One of the most important things in life to her was her time spent with her children and grandchildren. She spent countless hours and many miles attending their activities and cheering them on full-heartedly.

Jessie is survived by her husband, John; her children, Terry Brewer, Pierre; Leah (Bryan) Spiel, Parade, Wes (Julie) Brewer, Rapid City, Lacy (Carrie) Brewer, Rapid City, Charles (Lindsey) Brewer, Wessington, Aaron (Ashley) Brewer, Pierre; her grandchildren, Shawnelle, Heather, Amanda, John, Chase, Travis, Dayton, Seth, Brienna, Miranda, Garrett, Charleigh, Jet, Lainee and Colt; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Alexis, Hailey, Makayla, Tylie, Jase, Casen, Zoey and Ryder.
