Jayden Michael Hayford, 16, left this earth suddenly on July 15, 2023; 4 days before his 17th birthday, devastating to all those who cared for and loved him. Jayden was born to Robin Winder Hayford and “BK” (Brian) Hayford in Sturgis, SD. He was surrounded by the love of older brothers, Cayden Noble, Dakota, Cody, and Anthony Hayford. Jayden was born with fiery red hair and disproved the myths by growing into a loving, caring, family orientated young man. His love for his mom was evident in the way he always watched out for her and wanted her to be happy, yet, safe. He was a stickler for timeliness, and it drove him nuts just how the people around him were more laid back. Jayden had a smile that lit up the room and had a hug that radiated his love. He was fast-witted and could compete with the best in sarcasm and sassiness. He always would take time with his hair, “because that was how you got the girls”, he would tell his younger brothers.
Jayden was always watching for that person that didn’t quite fit in the group so he could draw them in. His family was so important to him. If he would see his “Auntie Alicia” anywhere he was always yelling out her name or running up to hug her from behind and scaring her to death. Personally, I think he did that on purpose just to get a laugh. He started soccer to keep up with his brothers but found a love for the game. Jayden played goalie much of the time but was a diverse player and played in other positions when needed. His signature move was to score a goal for his team while playing in the goalie box! It was also in soccer that he found a second family in the Wolkenhauer family, Donnie became much more than just a coach and became a father figure during a time that Jayden really needed it. They joked that he was an official Wolkenford and he called them his 2nd family. Jayden moved to the Capp Ranch with his mom in 2020, where he gained two more brothers, Lane, and Jerin Capp, and found a caring dad in Erin Capp. He attended Faith School and would have been a senior 2023-2024 and had many plans for the future. He played Peewee Football in Sturgis and remembered how fun the sport was when he came to the Faith School. He lettered his junior year in Football. He was the primary kicker and defensive lineman, when needed. When he got to spend time with BK, they would pass the time with bowling. Jayden would be able to throw the ball and curve it with amazement. Jayden would go to the bowling alley anytime he could with his brothers and friends when he came to Sturgis. Jayden had a love that was unconditional. The dogs in his life loved to play with him (Nala, Brutus, Bug, and Blu).
Jayden loved playing games and if you ever played spoons with him, you hoped you still had your body parts when the game was over! Competitiveness was in his blood and losing was not in his vocabulary. He enjoyed Video games with his gamer tag of “bubbajoal”, riding 4wheelers, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. His niece and nephew, Adalyn and Ayden held a very special place in his heart.
Jayden is survived by his mother, Robin (Erin); his father, BK; his brothers, Cayden Noble (Chelsae), Dakota (Emily), Cody (Teaha), Anthony, Lane, Jerin Capp, and Landon Hayford; his grandparents, Walt and Rose Winder, John and Debbie Capp, and Sherry Hayford; uncles, Greg (Crystal) Winder, Alan (Maggie) Winder, Marvin (Sharla) Hayford, Patrick (Cody) Hayford, and Lonnie Hayford; his great aunt and uncle, Carol (Pete) Dyer; nephew, Ayden Moline; niece, Adalyn Hayford; and numerous cousins, and friends.
He was preceded by grandpa, Marvin Hayford, grandma, Nancy Morris Hayford, great-grandpa, Virgil, and great-grandparents on both sides.
Visitations was held Wednesday, July 26, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, SD, and Saturday, July 29, at the Faith Community Center.
