On December 25, 1931 Robert and Mary Bechtold gave birth to a Christmas baby, Inez (Ines) Carol Bechtold. Inez passed away December 23, 2025 at Bethany Home in Sioux Falls, S.D. just two days before her 94th birthday.
Inez grew up on a ranch south of Murdo, S.D. At a dance in Draper, she met Corky Hayes. They married on March 20, 1955. They had one daughter, JoAnn Hayes of Sioux Falls, and one son Richard Hayes of Spearfish.
In later years, Corky and Inez traveled many places, making their winter home in Florida and then Lake Havasu, Arizona. After Corky’s death in 2009, Inez moved to Sioux Falls, living with her daughter for the next 15 years. She kept active with the Red Hat Ladies, shopping, church and crocheting.
Inez is proceeded in death by her parents, her brother, Richard, and her husband of 54 years, Corky Hayes.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn; son, Richard; his wife, Laurie, and Inez’s only grandchild Lucas; special friends Doug and Carter Schuster, and Casidy Reif and her family.
