Ina Opheim

Ina Opheim, 79, of rural Lodgepole, SD passed away at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hetttinger, ND on Friday, September 2, 2016.
    Service of Remembrance for Ina was Friday, September 9, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Centennial Chapel of Evanson Jensen Funeral Homes in Hettinger, ND.  Rev. Ron Nelson officiated and burial will followed at the Hettinger Cemetery.  Visitations were from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8 and from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral on Friday, all at the Centennial Chapel.
    Ina M. (Hendry) Opheim was born May 29, 1937 to H. Archie and Elva (Husfloen) Hendry at her parents first home which the referred to as the Johnson stone house.
    Ina started first grade in the Butte Consolidated school and finished the last four years of her grade school in Stanton, ND. In her teen years her parents moved to her Grandfather Hendry’s homestead and Ina completed her high school education at Hazen High School, Hazen, ND graduating in 1955. She received her degree in Home Economics Education from NDSU graduating in 1961. Shortly after graduating from NDSU she went to work for NDSU Extension Service as a Home Economist Agent. She started her career in Dickinson, ND serving the counties of Stark and Billings. She later moved to Hettinger, ND to serve the counties of Adams, Hettinger, Bowman, and Slope.
    On December 27th, 1965 Ina married Robert L. Opheim at the St. Matthews Lutheran Church, in Hazen, ND. In 1969 Ina became a stay-at-home Mom to her daughter Chloe and later her son Orson. While being a stay at home mom with their daughter she was involved with the local senior citizens group helping them with activities at their senior citizens meetings.
    In 1977 Ina and Robert moved with their children to their farmstead in Perkins County, South Dakota where she was residing when she passed away.
    In December of 2015 Ina and Robert celebrated 50 years of Marriage.
    Ina is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Chloe (Bill Picard) Opheim, son Orson (Stephanie) Opheim and granddaughter Evelyn Opheim. Brother-in-law and Sister-in-laws, Frank and Brita Opheim, Shirley Opheim, Helen Hilsendager. Niece and Nephew, Kristin Opheim and Erik Opheim. Several cousins and to her, a very special Aunt Magda Hendry. Ina was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Gordon Hilsendager, most all of her aunts and uncles.
