Harold Gage

Harold Gage, 73, of Dupree passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Harold was born April 19, 1945 to George and Myrtle (Diermier) Gage in Dupree.
He lived south of Dupree with his mother, uncle and his sister Mary, and his grandparents. In 1952 at the age of 7 they moved into town. Harold attended Dupree School until the 8th grade. After he was finished he began to work with his Uncle Ralph on the family ranch. They traveled back and forth from Dupree to the ranch for years, until they were able to move in a small two bedroom house in the 70’s. Harold’s cousin Richard Diermier helped him around the place, until Richard retired in the fall of 2011. They were very close, Harold thought of Richard more as a brother than a cousin.
In 1984 he met the love of his life Margaret Ann Brooks. They wed in the summer of 1985. To this union two children were born, Stacee (Kiel) Lemke and Casey. Stacee was born in 1987 and Casey followed in 1991. They then built onto the small two-bedroom house to accommodate their growing family. After Harold’s son Casey graduated high school in 2010 they worked alongside every day to operate the family ranch. Harold loved to do anything with cattle, including helping his friends when they would call.
Harold enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Lexi, Casyn, Harley and Robert. He loved to go fishing with his family. He played cards with his good friends Neil Birkeland, Vernon Starr, Gary Schuchhardt, Tiger Veit, his loving wife, and numerous others. Euchre was his game of choice, periodically he would play other card games but he would say that “they weren’t his favorite to play”.
He would even sneak in a good game of “Go Fish” and “Checkers” with Lexi and Casyn. He would take the kids on four-wheeler rides through the pasture, and stop to pick flowers to take home to Grandma.
Harold is survived by his loving wife Margaret; daughter Stacee (Kiel) Lemke; son Casey, grandchildren, Lexi, Casyn, Harley and Robert, and sister, Mary.
Harold was preceded in death by his father George Gage, mother Myrtle Gage, uncle Ralph Diermier and his grandparents.
Funeral service for Harold Gage, 73, of Dupree will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the United Church of Christ in Dupree, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.     Lunch and fellowship will follow at Pioneer Hall.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
