Eugene Stotts

Eugene Stotts, 72 of Pierre, died Friday, January 22 at Golden Living Nursing Care Center. 

Eugene Burton Stotts was born June 22, 1943 in Webster, S.D., to Cleo and Bernice (Thompson) Stotts. During his early years due to his dad’s job they traveled to many parts of South Dakota before settling in the Pierre area and attending school at Stanley County.

He was united in marriage to Patsy Cummins on March 14, 1970, at the First United Methodist Church in Pierre. Eugene worked road construction for Dave Gustafson and AGE.

He loved family gatherings, fishing and playing cards. He received great joy from watching his sons compete athletically and was very proud of the athletic accomplishments of his grandchildren. He was also a sports enthusiast, high school and pro and was an avid Cleveland Indians and Chicago Bears fan.

Eugene is survived by his wife Patsy of Pierre; two sons: Thomas and Dulcie Stotts and Christopher and Amy Stotts all of Pierre; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Alan Stotts and two sisters: Donna Reese and Judy Stotts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Johnny and sister Karen Erickson.

Services were held on Wednesday, January 27 at First United Methodist Church with visitation at the church and burial at Murdo Cemetery.
