Dale Morrison

Dale Morrison, age 67, of Philip, South Dakota, died on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Monument Health in Rapid City.
Dale William Morrison was born October 26, 1957, in Philip, South Dakota to Clark and Bonnie (Lindgren) Morrison. Dale attended K-8 at Elbon Country School then 8-12 at Philip School. During Dale’s junior year of high school he started running his grandfather’s gas station in 1975, naming it Morrison’s Pit Stop. His mother ran it while he attended school.
Dale was united in marriage to Tami Hook on July 3, 1976, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Philip, and to this union came four children: Tiffannee, NaKayla, Brandon, and Daylyn. Over the next nearly 50 years, Dale and Tami worked side by side every day. In 2013 he bought the local NAPA Store, rebuilding it near his gas station, while running both for the next two years.
Dale sold the gas station, moving the tire shop to the NAPA store for his son to operate. His businesses and his customers meant the world to him. He would always go the extra mile for all. Whether it was his knowledge, wisdom, or just hands on help, Dale could always fix it or would find a way.
Dale had a passion for all motor sports, which he participated in, from mud bogs, demolition derbies, riding snowmobiles, to drag racing. He was very successful in everything he did. Dale also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was always up for a good card game. He had a special bond with his son and grandsons and enjoyed teaching them how to hunt and fish.
Dale was a devoted man and had a deep love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He had an infectious smile and laugh that was contagious. He was known for his jokes and dry humor.
Dale was a hard-working man until his health would not allow it. Not long ago they sold the business and retired to live their dreams. Unfortunately, cancer did not allow much time for this retirement. He will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors include his wife Tami of Philip; son Brandon Morrison of Philip; daughters Tiffannee Morrison of Philip and NaKayla Morrison of Redfield; six grandchildren: Jersey, Payten, Dultzi, Bentley, Lathe, and Rhemee; brother Ed (Glenda) Morrison of Philip; four sisters Joan Kirchhevel of Rapid City, and Glenda Bilbrey, Shar (Mike) Moses, and Cindy (Rowdy) Schuler of Philip; and a host of other relatives and friends.
