Corliss James “Cork” Jahner

Corliss James “Cork” Jahner was born Feb. 13, 1934, in Aberdeen, S.D., the fifth child of Wendelin and Rose (Gabriel) Jahner.
 
Cork graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1952.
 
He was united in marriage to Beverly “Bev” Couch, Sept. 11, 1953, in Philp and worked for Northwestern Bell for 32 years. Then he transferred to AT&T and worked there for two years before retiring in October, 1986. During this time the family lived in Belle Fourche and Rapid City. 
 
In 1989, Cork and Bev sold their home and lived in their fifth wheel for several years before settling in Kerrville, Texas. They continued to travel by trailer for many years.
Grateful for having shared his life include his wife of 64 years, Bev; one, daughter, Kay Anderson, Rapid City; two sons, Keith, Rapid City, and David of Decatur, Ga.; sisters, Helen Beckham, Huntsville, Ala., and Frances Tallman, Spearfish; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
 
Cork was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, his sister, Gerry, and brothers, Wendelin and Tony. 
 
Cork passed away March 12, 2018, in Kerrville, Texas.
 
Services will be in South Dakota at a later date. 
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Peterson Hospice, 551 Hill Country Dr., Kerrville, TX 78028.
