Carole Cecelia Wince

Carole Cecelia (Bartelt) Wince, 76, of Belle Fourche and formerly of Dupree, peacefully let go of her fight against cancer and passed away on June 23, 2018 at her home surrounded by her five children.
Carole was born in Elkton, SD on April 22, 1942 to Orville and Marvel (Munsch) Bartelt.  She graduated from Elkton High School in 1960.  Carole attended South Dakota State College and later graduated from Mankato State College in 1964.  She accepted her first teaching position with the Dupree School, teaching English from 1964-1966.
On August 14, 1965 she was united in marriage to Gordon Wince of Dupree, SD.  To this union, six children were born. After deciding to start a family, Carole chose to remain at home and embrace her new career as a full-time homemaker and farmer’s wife.  In 2007, Carole and Gordon moved to Belle Fourche where she has since resided.
Over the years, Carole’s true passion for baking and cooking was enjoyed by family and friends.  She took great pride in the time spent in her kitchen doing for others.  As her family grew, so did the opportunities for Carole to share this passion with her grandchildren, and make every kitchen moment special.
Carole was a devote Catholic, which served as the foundation for raising her family.  Within the Dupree community, Carole gave countless hours to the Sacred Heart Parish & Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, and Ziebach County Extension Club.  Over the last several years, Carole’s involvement continued within the Belle Fourche community.  She found great value in her friendships at the local community center, and strengthened her faith as an active member of the St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
Six months ago, Carole lost not only her husband of 52 years, but her best friend, Gordon.  This recent loss was significant to Carole’s journey in life and led to her anticipation of being reunited with him.
Carole is survived by her children:  Scott (Kim), Kent (Laurie), Ann (Don) Lyon, Lisa (Dustin) Schramm and Jill; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Donald Bartelt and sister, JoAnn (Chuck) Heesch, and many cherished nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; infant daughter, Kaye; parents; brother, Gene Bartelt.
Vigil services will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Belle Fourche with visitation one hour prior.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 28 at the church.  Burial will take place at 2:00 PM atBlack Hills National Cemetery.  Carole’s family requests that memorials be made in her honor to Hospice of the Northern Hills.
