Jean Anderson
Jean N. Anderson, 75, Spearfish, SD, died July 9, 2010, at Fort Meade VA Hospice.

Services were held Wednesday, July 14, at the Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel, 450 7th Street in Spearfish, with Pastor Kent Stillson officiating.

Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery with Military Honors by the Spearfish Honor Guard.

Jean was born December 6, 1934 and grew up on a ranch near Midland, SD, and graduated from high school in 1953. He then served in the U.S. Army Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. at Arlington National Cemetery. Jean went to Black Hills State College and taught school in Australia as well as in the United States. He retired from American Colloid.

Jean liked a good joke, history and Johnny Cash music. He appreciated his longtime buddies and was able to write poetry that would sing when read aloud. His loyal loves were family, the short grass hills around his boyhood home and the trees in his yard. "Forget the flower," he would say, "my favorite plants are trees." Let us not forget his fondness for all the birds, squirrels and deer in his yard and the long time love of the horse. The stories he would tell of his horse, Trixie, always brought back wonderful memories.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; his children, Greg, Scott, Angela, Sam, Todd and Sven; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and his brother, George, and sister, Karen.
