William "Bill" Nelson Grimm

William Nelson "Bill" Grimm, age 68, of White River, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at the Rosebud Hospital in Rosebud, SD.

Services were held Tuesday, June 27, at the Community Events Center in White River with Pastor John Erickson presiding.

Music was provided by Lynda Bloom, “Amazing Grace” and “What A Friend We Have in Jesus”. Register book attendant was Naomi Grimm. Ushers were Nick Frank and Randy Borer. Pallbearers were Jim Fernen, Bill Piercy, Doug Holmes, Walt Lurz, Gene Popkes and Darrell Scott. Honorary pallbearers were all Cherry-Todd Electric Cooperative employees and all relatives and friends in attendance.

Interment was in the White River Cemetery. Rush Funeral Home of Philip was in charge of arrangements.

William Nelson Grimm, better known as Bill to his family and friends, was born October 4, 1937, in Valentine, NE, the son of William Henry and Maud (Polen) Grimm. He grew up on a farm in Todd County near Mission, SD. He received his elementary education at Meadow Valley Rural School prior to graduating from Todd County High School in 1955. As a young man he worked for various farmers and ranchers in the Mission area.

Bill was united in marriage to Edna Strong of Valentine, NE, and to this union were born two sons, Bryan and William James. They made their home in Rapid City where he worked for Black Hills Power and Light Company. In 1964, they moved to La Mirada, CA, where he worked for Southern California Edison Power Company until moving back to his parents' dairy farm near Mission in 1970. In 1970, he began working at the Cherry-Todd Electric Cooperative in Mission, a position he held until the time of his death. In 1980 he moved to White River, where he has since resided.

Bill was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of White River.

Grateful for having shared his life include two sons, Bryan Grimm and his wife, Elaine, of Rapid City, and William James Grimm and his wife, Shawn, of Mancos, CO; four grandchildren, Jesse Grimm and his wife, Brandi, and their two children, Felicianna and Veronica; Naomi Grimm, Amanda Grimm and Samantha Grimm; his sister, Esther Dougan of Louisville, KY; his special friend Lucille Deutsch's children, Ron Deutsch and Jim Deutsch, both of White River; Pauline Krogman and her husband, Jerry, of White River, and Gloria Sims and her husband, Gary, of Maynard, MN; Lucille's six grandchildren, Karmin McGinnis and her husband, Tim, Kerri Huber and her husband, Greg, Wendy Feenstra and her husband, Greg, Autumn Grund and her husband, Chris, Sunder Sims and London Sims; Lucille's six great-grandchildren, Ryan and Riley McGinnis, Amber, Mackenzie and Carter Huber, and Alexis Feenstra; and a special friend, Ann Harvey of Valentine, NE.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his special friend, Lucille Deutsch, on August 12, 2000.

Cherry-Todd Electric has lost a loyal and devoted employee as well as a very dear friend and member of our cooperative. He will be dearly missed.
