Two LifeFlights transoprt accident victims from area Monday
Two separate traffic accidents Monday required LifeFlight services from Rapid City Regional Hospital.
According to Haakon County Sheriff Larry Hanes, the call came in about 8:50 a.m. for a rollover accident four miles east of Philip.
A Chrysler LeBaron hatchback had rolled over and both of the two occupants were injured. Hanes said the Jaws of Life were used to get the doors off the vehicle.
One victim was Life-Flighted from the scene and the second was transported to Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital. Names of the victims were not released.
Road conditions were dry Monday morning at the time of the one-car accident. “It appears he drifted off the road and over-corrected,” Hanes said of the cause of the accident. “I don’t believe any citations were issued.”
In addition to the Sheriff, the Philip Police Department, Philip Fire and Ambulance crews, and Rapid City Regional’s LifeFlight were at the scene. The South Dakota Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
A second accident in the Kadoka area occurred within ten minutes of the one near Philip, said Hanes. A second LifeFlight transported a victim from the Philip hospital to Rapid City Regional.
“It was a busy morning here,” commented Hanes.
