Teeners split win/loss at Belle Fourche

The Philip Teeners (the Red Dogs) traveled to Belle Fourche Saturday to play in a doubleheader against Belle Fourche and Bowman, ND.
Philip vs. Belle Fourche
In game one, Philip got off to a slow start and found themselves down 11-0 after three innings. In the fourth, Philip put four runs on the board. Belle answered with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Philip got two runs back in the top of the fifth, but gave up three in the bottom to lose by the 10-run rule.
The Philip bats could only get two hits off their opponent’s pitchers, while Belle came up with 13. Michael “Buddy” Herber and Nathan Penticoff got the two hits for Philip, both singles.
Michael Westerberg was the starting pitcher for Philip, with Nathan Penticoff finishing up.
Philip vs. Bowman, ND
In game two against the Bowman Red Sox, Bowman took a 4-0 lead over Philip after three innings. But in the top of the fourth, Philip scored five runs to take a 5-4 lead. Three walks and a couple of key hits by Nick Christenson and Carter Uhlir put Philip on track. The Red Dogs went on to score runs in the next three innings and held Bowman scoreless to bring home an 18-4 win.
The bats came alive in this game, with 11 hits while starting pitcher Kevin Ball gave up six hits. Philip did not commit a single error in this good defensive game.
Getting the hits for Philip were Kevin Ball, 3; Elizabeth Lawson, Nate Penticoff and Daniel Penticoff, 2 each; and Nick Christenson, Michael Westerberg and Carter Uhlir, 1 each.
The next scheduled game for the Philip Red Dogs is July 8th in Philip against Belle Fourche.
