South Dakota Rodeo Association Finals to include local area cowboys and cowgirls

It is Championship Rodeo time in South Dakota once again as the 51st Annual South Dakota Rodeo Association Finals will be held in the Beef Complex building on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron. The dates are October 13, 14 and 15. The Friday and Saturday, October 13-14, performances begin at 6:30 p.m., with the Sunday, October 15, performances at 2:00 p.m.

Friday night is family night at the SDRA Finals. Saturday night is Patriotism night - SDRA style, Saturday is also jam-packed with jackpot ropings and barrel racings. Sunday is Special Events Day honoring Special Needs Children. Sunday is also the crowning of the 2006 SDRA Champions.

Haakon County and the surrounding area will be well represented again at the 2006 South Dakota Rodeo Association Finals. Jody Marone, Philip, goes into the finals in the number one position in the Women's All Around. She is in third position in the barrel racing and eighth in the new Mixed Team Roping. Jeff Jones, Midland, will be competing in tenth position in the calf roping and eighth in team penning with Morris Jones, Midland and Jim O'Dea, Howes. M. Jones will also be competing in the senior men's breakaway in sixth position. Zach West will be competing in the saddle broncs. Dan Nelson, Creighton, will be competing in eighth position in team roping and Jeff and Jake Nelson will be competing in heeling in fifth and sixth positions respectively. Ty Eisenbraun, Creighton, will begin the finals in eighth position in bull riding.

The SDRA Finals hosts the top 12 contestants in each event on the top stock in the SDRA. There are several close races for the 2006 finals - leading to audience-pleasing performances to determine the year-end champions.

The 2006 Finals offers the tenth annual Dakota Cowboy Christmas Trade Show in the Expo Building on the fairgrounds.
