Slovek, Flesner place first in all-star wrestling

Congratulations go to Philip wrestlers Brock Slovek and Kurt Flesner, who competed in the South Dakota All-Star Games in Aberdeen and came away with top honors last Tuesday.

The North defeated the South 7-2. Among the winners was Kurt Flesner, who defeated Andy Willuweit of Gregory, 3-1. Brock Slovek won his match 2-1 over Spencer Novotny of Winner. Coaching the duo was Philip wrestling coach Matt Donnelly.

Other winners for the North were:

•Brad Johnson, Harding County, beat Josh Tomsik of Garretson 6-2.

•Kyle Brewer of Lennox defeated Mike Clauson of Brandon Valley, 9-0.

•Skylair Lappe of Douglas defeated Billy Murtha of Parkston, 8-5.

•Luke Johnson, Garretson, defeated Andy Sivertsen, also of Garretson, 10-0.

•Billy Clanton, Harding Co., pinned Cody Hortsman of Parkston in 2:20.

Winners for the South were Andy Fergen, one of five Parkston wrestlers, 6-1 over Brent Sherard of Parker. The other winner for the South was Mike Long of Parkston, 14-6 over John Latham of Harding Co.
