Sixth annual Badlands Matched Bronc Riding event
The sixth annual Badlands Matched Bronc Ride was held in Kadoka, Friday, August 19.
There were 20 cowboys competing in the first round of action. Nine made their eight-second rides to move on to the second round. Ryan Kruse, Interior, drew back for a spot in the second round. Five bronc riders made the whistle and advanced to the short go.

Short round
West, Philip - 85 points on Broken Arrow Rodeo's #59 Wilson
"That horse has been around an aweful long time," said West of the bucking bronc they call Wilson. "They brought him out of retirement and he is really good." West said that the horse, when a colt, used to be just barely able to look over the fence, similar to the Wilson character on the television series "Home Improvement."
