Shirley Jean Timp
Shirley Jean Timp, 70, DeSmet, died, Saturday, July 30, 2005 at her home near DeSmet. Services were held Wednesday, August 3, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in DeSmet with Father Cathal Galagher officiating. Burial was at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery near DeSmet.
Shirley Jean Breemes was born January 7, 1935 to parents Fred and Laura Breemes in Haakon County, SD. She attended rural schools and graduated from Philip High School in 1954.
After high school she worked at the bank in Philip. She later moved to Huron, SD, and attended Huron College and worked at the telephone company.
She was united in marriage to John Timp in June of 1961 in DeSmet, SD. The couple made their home on John’s family farm and raised three children, Laura, Fred and Bob. After the children were born, Shirley became a homemaker and helped with duties around the farm.
As hobbies Shirley liked to go bowling and traveled to National Bowling Tournaments all over the country. She also loved to play bingo. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, John Timp, DeSmet, SD; one daughter, Laura and husband, Rod Bentley, Silver City, IA; two sons, Fred Timp, LaMars, IA, and Bob and wife Kristi Timp, DeSmet, SD; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters.
