Scotties at Wall 5K run/walk cancer fundraiser

On July 12, nine Philip athletes tested what their 338 cumulative miles of individual training so far this summer have done for them.

They also helped the Wall Community Cancer Cause by participating in the five kilometer run/walk fundraiser.

Philip's Christy Ferguson took first place in the women's 30-to-39 age bracket, and took 22nd place overall, with a time of 29:59. Ralph Kroetch earned third place in the men's 50-to-59 bracket, 20th place overall, with a time of 29:01.

In the boys' 13-to-19 age bracket, Zane Pekron finished in second place, fourth place overall, with a total time of 20:24. William Coyle ran the course in 22:17 to take third place in the age group and eighth overall. Tyler Dekker took fourth, 11th overall, with a time of 24:10. Kelvin Ferguson finished next in the age bracket, 14th overall, with a time of 26:10. Jade Konst claimed seventh place, 27th overall, with a time of 37:04.

In the girls' 13-to-19 age bracket, Emily Schofield earned first place, 17th overall, with a course time of 26:13.

In the girl's under-12 age bracket, Allison Pekron also earned first, 25th overall, with a time of 32:19.

A 5-K run/walk will be held on Saturday, August 2, during Philip's Festival Days. The Relay For Life team "Cowgirls Cooking up a Cure," headed by Heather Gabriel will host the event. Registration will be at the Haakon County Young Women's Kiddie Park at 6:30 a.m. and the start will be at 7:00 a.m. All interested runners and walkers may register for the fundraiser.
