The Phillip Scotties track and field team traveled to Lead to competed in the 2011 Mountain West Invitational held at the Mountain Top Athletic Facility, Saturday, May 7.

The Philip boys' team took sixth place, with a total score of 50, out of 16 teams. The Philip girls' team earned ninth place, with a final score of 32, out of 16 participating teams.

Philip track coach Tom Parquet said, "We competed well for the day. Times and distances will have to improve in the next two weeks, so I hope we have good weather to train in."

Lead track coach and event coordinator Steve Rice said, "The Rapid City Central junior varsity boys and Belle Fourche girls captured the team titles on a nice day at Lead."

The RCC JV boys had 108 points. Belle Fourche totaled 71 for second place, and New Underwood took third with 61. For the girls, Belle Fourche finished with 110 points, Saint Thomas More with 70 for second place, and Hot Springs took third with 64.
