Scotties take own Philip Invitational golf Tournament
With a team score of 135 for nine holes, the Philip Scottie boys won first place at the Philip Invitational Golf Tournament.
Nine schools were represented at the Friday, April 24, meet held at the Lake Waggoner Golf Course. Weather forced the planned 18-hole tournament to be cut in half.
For the boys, Lyman claimed second place with a score of 139, Lyman (blue team) 3rd - 147, Wall (blue team) 4th - 150, Newell 5th - 158 and Hill City 6th - 181. Individually, Philip's Caleb Clements claimed the top spot with a 38 round. Devon Ehlers took eighth with 48, Colton Nickelson got 10th with 49, Nick Roseth shot a 62 and Wyatt Johnson sank a 68.
For the girls, Wall claimed first place with a score of 151, Hill City 2nd - 154, Red Cloud 3rd - 158 and Newell 4th - 181. Philip, having only two players, could not post a team.
Individually, Abby Fitzgerald shot a 53 for the day. Tara Ravellette scored a 55.
"They played well for the conditions," said Philip coach Doug Hauk. "Clements chipped it in on the sixth hole to eagle it in and win by one stroke." Clement finished the par-five sixth hole two under par.
