Scotties stopped by Eagles in semi-final game of District 14B Basketball Tourney

The Philip Scotties, having earlier defeated the Rapid City Christian Comets, faced off against the Wall Eagles in the second round of the District 14B Basketball Tournament, Thursday, March 3.

The New Underwood Tigers had beaten the Edgemont Moguls 60-26 in the first round. The New Underwood Tigers lost Thursday's conference game against the Oelrichs Tigers 55-56.

In the Philip/Wall game, the Scotties trailed by six points in the first quarter, and by an additional six points in the second quarter. The first half ended 20-32.

Philip came back in the third quarter to not only narrow Wall's lead, but to tie the game 42-42. The final quarter saw a reversion to the Eagles again in the lead. Both teams scored high in the last quarter, but Wall out shot Philip by nine points to end the game 64-73.

The Wall Eagles went up against the Oelrichs Tigers, Friday, March 4, in the district championship match held in Oelrichs. The Eagles defeated the Tigers 74-56.

The Region 7B game was held Monday evening, March 7, at the Philip High School gymnasium with Wall versus the White River Tigers. With a 71-52 win, White River will now play in the State B Boys Basketball Tournament, March 17-19 in Aberdeen.
