Scotties put three golfers in top five at Black Hills Golf Invitational Tournament

The Black Hills Invitational Golf Tournament was held at Hart Ranch on Monday, May 4.

"Conditions were a little windy, but the nicest weather we have had to golf in all spring," said Philip coach Doug Hauk. "The golf pro at Hart Ranch said the greens were the fastest that they have had at Hart Ranch. Greens on the 15th and 16th holes were really a challenge for kids Monday."

Of the 10 teams at the meet, the boys' division was championed by Philip with a total score of 292. Wall took second place with 300 and third place went to Lemmon with 322.

For individual scores, Philip's Devon Ehlers scored 44 in the front nine and 48 in the back nine for a total of 92 and third place. Teammate Caleb Clements earned fifth with 42 and 54 for a 96. Colton Nickelsen scored 47 and 57 for 104, while Jordan Hauk shot 54 and 57 for 111.

Jones County's Carson Moore took medalist honors with 39 and 40 for a 79 total. Wall's Darick Eisenbraun shot 40 and 43 for 83 and for second place. For fourth place, teammate Lane Husted scored 47 and 49 for 96.

In the girls' division, Philip's Tara Ravellette shot 47 and 46 for 93 to bring home the individual third place honors. Teammate Abby Fitzgerald finished the day with 53 and 57 for 110.

To earn the girls' medalist spot, Amanda Johnson, Bison, shot 42 and 39 for 81. Jordan Trohkimoinen, Newell, earned second place with 48 and 45 for 92. Fourth place went to Erin Jarvis, Hill City, with 47 and 53 for 100 and fifth place was claimed by Shayla Johnson, Wall, with 54 and 50 for 104.

Bison as a team finished first with a total score of 302. Hill City finished second with 328. Wall took third with 348 and Newell took fourth with 365.

The Philip Scotties will compete at the Western Great Plains Conference meet at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 8. Following that will be the Region Golf Meet at Hart Ranch starting at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11.
