Scotties end boys' basketball season with loss to White River

Here’s how to “box out” … Michael Westerberg is looking for a rebound and “boxing out” against the White River Tigers. The Philip Scotties lost to the Tigers in the second round of the district tournament held in Philip last Tuesday.

In their final game of this year’s boys’ basketball season, the Philip Scotties were defeated by the #1-seeded White River in District 13B play in Philip. The Tuesday evening game, which was played in front of a crowd of almost 1,200 spectators, ended with a score of 66-84.

The Scotties end their season with a record of 13 wins and eight losses.

In a game just before Districts, the Philip Scotties defeated the Kadoka Kougars 61-59 at Philip. The current seniors have not seen this happen since they were in seventh grade. Throughout the game, the score was never more than five points apart. With 30 seconds remaining in the game, the score was 59-57. With 20 seconds left, it was tied at 59. The winning basket for the Scotties came with only 12 seconds on the clock. No further statistics were available.
