Scottie results from the State Golf Tournament

The Philip Scotties had five golfers qualify for the State “B” Golf Tournament held May 22-23.

The boys – Jordan Smith, a sophomore, and Caleb Clements, an eighth grade student – played on the Prairie Green Golf Course in Sioux Falls against 127 other golfers.

Smith scored an 80 on day one. He then scored a 40 on the front nine and a 51 on the back nine for a day-two total of 91. His tournament total was a 171, which tied him for 25th and earned him a medal.

Clements shot a 100 for the day-one total. He then carded a 47 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine for a day-two total of 93. His state tournament total was a 193.

All three golfers on the girls’ team qualified for state, thus putting them in competition also as a team. Tara Ravellette, Abby Fitzgerald and Ashley Berry played on the Dell Rapids Rocky Run Golf Course versus 87 other golfers.

Freshman Tara Ravellette placed 32nd with a day-one score of 107, a day-two score of 106, and a total of 213.

Abby Fitzgerald, also a freshman, carded a 121 day-one total and a 123 day-two total for a tournament total of 244.

Junior Ashley Berry had a first day score of 130 and a second day score of 127 for a total of 257.

The Philip girls’ team finished in 15th place.
