Scottie boys win first District 14B game

The Philip Scotties boys' basketball team played its first 2011 District 14B game in New Underwood against the Rapid City Christian Comets, Monday, February 28. With a 78-31 win, the Scotties advance to further district action.

Rapid City Christian scorers: Peter Irwin - 18, Ben Hodges - 5, Jeremy Strommer - 4, Elijah Hauchens and Matt Muehlbauer - 2 each.

Philip field goal percentage - 42 (25 of 59). Rapid City Christian sank 10 field goals. Philip three point percentage - 38 (3 of 8). Rapid City Christian sank 3, three pointers. Free throw percentages: Philip - 68 (19 of 28), Rapid City Christian - 40 (2 of 5).

The Scotties will next compete in the second round of the district basketball tournament, which will be Thursday, March 3, at the higher seeded team's court. The championship match will be Friday, March 4, again at the highseeded team home court. The region game will be Tuesday, March 8, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City.
