Scottie boys Western Conference golf champs

The Philip High School boys' golf team picked up their fifth win of the season by taking first place at the Western Conference Champi-onship held Friday, May 9th, at the Elks Country Club golf course.

In individual placings, Jordan Smith won top medalist honors after winning the fourth hole of a three way sudden death playoff after a tied original 18 holes. The other Scottie individual medalists were: Kolby Longbrake - seventh, Allen Hauk - sixth and Caleb Clements - fifth.

In the girls division, Abby Fitzgerald won second place individually.

The teams will be in action Monday and Tuesday, May 19th and 20th, for the regional meet in order to qualify for the state meet. The girls will compete at Hart Ranch near Rapid City and the boys will compete at the Elks Country Club. At regions, the Scottie boys' team will consist of Allen Hauk, Jordan Smith, Caleb Clements and Kolby Longbrake, with Devon Ehlers as the alternate player.

"Ehlers and Longbrake have battled back and forth the entire season to see who was the fourth man on the team," said Coach Doug Hauk. "It came down to the last 36 holes of the season to see who would be the fourth member of the team."
