Scottie boys at State "B" Golf Tourney
The 2010 Class "B" Girls' and Boys' State Golf Tournament was Monday and Tuesday, May 24-25.
The girl's tournament was played at Lee Park Golf Course in Aberdeen and the boy's tournament was played at the Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen. Both the boys' and the girls' competitors teed off at 9:00 a.m. on Monday and 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the respective courses.
A total of 55 schools participating in the "B" tournament. The tournaments were 36 holes of medal play with 18 holes played each day.
There were 127 boys qualified to play at the state golf tournament. Of the 20 full teams of male golfers, Sully Buttes took first place with a total score of 490 and Deuel took second place with 496. Wall finished in 12th place with 551. The Philip boys' team ended its season with a 15th place at state and a score of 565, a 274 the first day and 291 the second day.
Individually, Gregory's Gavin Pochop shot a 155 for first place. (Gavin is the son of former Philip resident, Doug Pochop.) Philip's Caleb shot an 85+96=181. Teammate Tristen Rush ended with a 85+99=184. Philip's Devon Ehlers shot a 114+96=210 and Richie Baye finished with a 104+112=216.
The 40 schools participating in the "B" girls tournament were represented by 87 golfers. For the girls' teams, Clark took first place with a total score of 550 and Deubrook Area earned second with 577. Philip High School did not have any female golfers qualify for the state tournament.
