Rodney L. Meyer

Rodney L. Meyer, age 52, of Huron, formerly of Cody, WY, died Friday, December 15, 2006, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, December 19, at the Riverview United Methodist Church in Huron with Rev. Iva Laudermith officiating. Burial was at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Rodney L. Meyer was born on March 22, 1954, to Paul and Ruby Meyer at Huron. He was raised on the family farm and attended Meyer Country School and Alpena School. In 1972, he graduated from Huron High School. He attended Springfield College for one year and graduated from Mitchell Area Vocational Technical School in 1975 with a degree in electrical construction and maintenance. He moved to Philip, SD, and worked for Western Area Power Administration as a electrician.

On August 27, 1983, Rodney married Nancy Anderson at the Huron Riverview United Methodist Church. They moved to Cody, WY, in 1985 and continued to work for Western Area Power Administration until his retirement in 2001. In April 2005, he moved back to Huron to be closer to his family. He will be missed by all of us and his dogs.

He was a National Honor Society member and a member of the United Methodist Church.

He loved to hunt and fish and made many trips to Canada to fish and was happy when his dad could accompany him. He was especially proud of the Big Horn Sheep and Wyoming Bull Moose that he shot and loved to show these to people. Rod, also loved his dogs, especially "Babe", you would often see him walking her, or riding "shotgun" with him.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Huron; his parents; four brothers, Steve of Huron, Richard (Carolyn) of Huron, Randy (Liz) of Broomfield, CO and Todd of Orlando, FL; 1 step-son, Corey (Kim) of Cody, WY; 5 nephews; 1 niece; 2 great nephews and 1 great niece.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
