Reverend Donald A. Olson

The Reverend Donald A. Olson, 76, of Marquette, NE, died Monday, June 5, 2006, as a result of an automobile accident near Central City, NE.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 9, at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church near Phillips with the Rev. Mark Dunham officiating. Burial was in the Monroe Cemetery.

Donald was born on Feb. 21, 1930, to Joe E. and Alice T. (Nelson) Olson in Aurora, Neb. He grew up in Aurora and attended school there. He furthered his education at Bob Jones University.

He entered the United States Air Force in 1951, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954.

Donald was united in marriage to Pauline L. Hendrickson on Dec. 29, 1953, in Holdrege, NE. Donald served as pastor to Evangelical Free churches in South Carolina, Burnabey, British Columbia, Canada, Muscatine and Sioux City, Iowa, Clarks, Neb., Louviers, Colo., Philip and Milesville, S.D., and finally the Mamre Evangelical Free Church in Marquette, Neb. He also served in administrative capacities in several Christian schools across the United States.

Donald and Pauline were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in Dec. of 2003. Pauline died on Nov. 13, 2005. Don loved to sing and serve the Lord in that capacity as well as at the pulpit. He loved his four grandchildren, McKenzie Olson, and Gretchen, Gabrielle and Carrie Brosman.

Survivors include one son, Joel (Traci) Olson of Coerd’alene, Idaho; one daughter, Cindy (Cory) Brosman of Phillips, Neb.; four grandchildren; three brothers, John (Alayne) Olson of Aurora, Neb; Wayne (Betty) Olson of Virginia; and Vern (Doris) Olson of Colorado.

His parents and his wife, Pauline, preceded him in death.
