Rebecca Jo "Becky" Stahl-Fortune, 39, of Rockham, S.D., died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.

Becky was cremated and her memorial service will be Saturday, April 2, at 11:00 a.m. and a prayer service Friday, April 1, at 7:00 p.m. both at Messiah Lutheran Church in Redfield. Reverend Peter M. Utecht will officiate.

Due to the size of church, the lunch will be at the National Guard Armory and all are invited to the lunch. Cremains burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be established in Becky's memory. www.thelenfuneralhome.com

Becky was born October 6, 1971, in Redfield to Donald and Sharon (Neu) Stahl. She graduated from Redfield High School, in 1990, and South Dakota State University in 1994 with a degree in animal science. Becky and Rod Fortune were married June 12, 1999, in Wall. She worked as an Ag Extension Educator in Miller and was presently a U.S. Postal letter carrier, also in Miller. Rod and Becky farmed and ranched south of Rockham and Becky was active in all aspects of the farm.

She enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, basketball and watching football. Her family, especially Rod and their children, Augustus and Reed, were the greatest joy of her life.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Rockham and later Redfield.

Becky is survived by her husband, Rod, of Rockham, her children, Augustus and Reed at home; her parents, Donnie and Sharon Stahl of Cottonwood Lake, S.D.; her brothers, Steve (Liz ) Stahl of Gilbert, Ariz.; Bruce (Amy) Stahl of Merton, Wisc.; and Kenny (Sherri) Stahl of Aberdeen. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother Ruth Neu of Redfield; her father-in-law, Kelly (Patricia) Fortune of Interior; her brother-in-law, Gene (Alecia) Fortune of Interior; and seven nieces.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jacob P. Neu; her paternal grandparents, Carl and Rosa Stahl; and her mother-in-law, Karen Sue Fortune in 2004.
