Public Library to host Book Fair

The Haakon County Public Library will host a Scholastic Book Fair Monday through Friday, November 17 to 21, in the community room of the Haakon County Courthouse.

The fair will run from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day except Tuesday, when it will be open until 7:00 p.m. It will end at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. All are invited to attend the fair featuring the theme "Book Fair Safari." All parents are invited to bring their children that evening to shop for books for themselves, the school or the public library. Coloring contest sheets will be available for the kids to complete for a chance to win a prize.

Offered will be specially priced books and educational products, including new releases, award-winning titles, children's classics, interactive software, adult books and current bestsellers. Customers may help both the school and the public library build their collections by purchasing books through the Classroom Wish List and One for Books programs.

New hours at the library are 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m every day, with story time at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday mornings. The Book Club continues to meet on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m.

The library has received an Alibri book grant with the help of the golf tournament sponsored by the Friends of the Library in September. The grant and the additional monies have allowed the library to add more than 70 new titles to the teen and children's collections. Donations of newer titles are being added to the adult fiction section every week.
