This low-scoring game's first quarter saw the Scottie defenseplayers hold the Patriot offense, which was forced to punt. A long snap to the punter was fumbled, and Eureka/Bowdle ended up in its own endzone, thus Philip got two points on the scoreboard for a safety.

The weather affected any punting and passing that might have otherwise been seen during the game.

In the third quarter, the Philip team worked its way to a first and goal position. Travis Nelson was given the ball and he forced his way over the last two yards for a touchdown. Teammate Wyatt Kammerer made good on the two-point conversion. The score was 10-0, and remained that way until the final gun.

The Philip Scotties earned 22 first downs, while limiting their opponents to 13. Philip used 60 running plays to gain a total of 246 yards. Eureka/Bowdle ran 30 times for a total of 92 yards. Philip's quarterback, Tate DeJong, tried one pass play, which was incomplete. The Patriots connected four of their 12 pass attempts for a total yardage gain of 32.

Philip rushing leaders were Kammerer - 26 runs for a total of 143 yards, Tucker McDaniel - 15 for 49. Nelson - 17 for 47, DeJong - 2 of 7.

The Philip defense statistics where: Beau Ferguson - 3 solo tackles and 4 assists, Cody Reder - 3 solos and 7 assists, Clint Nelson - 2 solos and 5 assists, Trey Fortune - 1 solo and 5 assists and 1 fumble recovery, Cassidy Schnabel - 6 assists, Tanner Radway - 5 assists, Casey Reder - 1 assist, T. Nelson - 6 solos and 5 assists, McDaniel - 2 solos and 5 assists, Kammerer - 1 solo and 1 assist, DeJong - 1 assist.

Mostly because of the weather, Philip did not punt during the game, choosing instead to reliquish possession of the ball on loss of downs. Eureka attempted one punt, which resulted in a safety. Philip went backwards 20 yards because of penalites, while Eureka was penalized 35 yards.

The quarterfinal round of playoffs was Monday, November 1. Philip (7-2), now reranked as #5, traveled to Chester to go against the Chester Flyers (7-2), now ranked #4. Chester Area had earlier defeated Howard 34-6.

The winner in the quarterfinal game will go against the winner of the Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan vs. Whitelake/Plankinton game. The semi-finals will be Saturday, November 6.
