Philip Scotties fall to Kadoka Kougars
The Philip Scottie boys' basketball team hosted the Kadoka Kougars, Friday, February 25.
Before a home audience packed because of Parents' Night, the Scotties spent the first minute of the game setting up an offensive play that put them first on the scoreboard with a field goal. The Kougars countered with their own, but then began falling behind. As the buzzer for the first quarter sounded, Kadoka sank a three pointer to put the score at 11-8.
Within just seconds of the start of the second quarter, the Kougars whooshed another three pointer to tie the game at 11-11. At the 6:00 mark, the score was again tied, now at 13-13. At the 5:00 mark, Kadoka stole the lead. Though Philip fought energetically, the first half ended 17-20.
Two and a half minutes into the second half, a successful catch-up by the Scotties put a tied 23-23 on the scoreboard. Philip then temporarily took the lead, but Kadoka, again sunk a three-point shot and forced a tie at 28-28. About a half minute before the buzzer, the score soured to 28-30.
The final quarter included two back-to-back three pointers by Kadoka. The Scotties could not seem to answer offensively, and the score continued to widen. Finally the game ended 31-49.

The junior varsity game was far more defensively oriented and the score of the two teams stayed far closer. According to the end of each quarter, the Scotties shadowed the Kougars to stay within four points. The game ended with a 20-23 loss for Philip.
