Philip Scotties continue playoff climb to state football championship by beating Warner 45-0
The Philip Scotties defeated Warner on Tuesday, October 25, in front of a large home-field crowd. The first round of the Class 9A Region 4 ended with a score of 45-0.
Philip’s quarterback, Dana Kerns, rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another in the Scotties' many charges downfield.
"It was a total team effort. We came out with a lot of intensity," said Philip head coach Keven Morehart. "I thought our defense played extremely tough for us. We had a good all around game," added Morehart.
Bo Slovek rushed 103 yards on seven carries, while Kerns rushed 88 yards and threw for a gain of 137 yards.

In the first quarter, J.D. Livermont completed a 12-yard rush to put Philip first on the scoreboard. Kerns ran in the last 3 yards of a rush for the second touchdown. To end another Scottie drive, Kerns ran in 7 yards for the third Philip touchdown.
In the second quarter the Scotties offense found themselves near the Warner end zone, but O’Dea snagged a pass and ran the ball 93 yards for a touchdown. Later in the same quarter, the home team was 20 yards from its goal when Kerns ran the ball in to score.
In the third quarter, a 73 yard touchdown run by Bo Slovek ended the game.
Philip rushing was lead with Kerns carrying the ball 10 times for a gain of 88 yards, and Slovek 7 for 103. Warner’s Brady Roberts rushed 4 times for 18 yards.
Pass reception for the Scotties was lead by O’Dea with one catch for a 93 yard gain, and Slovek with two catches for 13 yards. Warner leaders were Matt Bossly with five catches for 49 yards, and Jordan Stephens with two catches for 47 yards.
The Scotties defense was lead with Casey Elshere getting eight tackles, Lincoln Smith - five, O’Dea - seven tackles and one fumble recovery. Warner defensive leaders were Stephens earning six tackles and Tony Kulesa getting five.
