Philip Lady Scotties at annual West River Girls' Basketball Tournament

The annual West River Girls' Basketball Tournament was held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, February 10-12.

Thursday and Fridays games took place in Newell or Hot Springs. Saturday games were held at Rapid City Central High School.

The Philip Lady Scotties first faced off against the Faith Longhorns. The Scotties quickly grabbed the lead, with a 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. At the end of the first half, Philip still had the lead, with a 21-16 halftime score. The third quarter saw a turn around where Faith caught up to and pulled ahead of Philip. The Scotties did not make up the difference before the final buzzer. The Scotties lost 35-42.

The Philip versus Moorcroft, Wyo., game resulted in a 51-39 win for the Lady Scotties.

The Philip versus Hot Springs game ended 36-41 in favor of Hot Springs.

The next competition for the Philip Lady Scotties will be in White River against the Tigers, Thursday, February 17, starting at 5:30 p.m. Their following meet will be at districts February 21-22 at the hometown of the higher seeded team. The district championship will be played February 24 in Rapid City.
