Philip Invitational Golf Meet goes to Scottie Team and medalists

The Philip Scottie golf teams swept the first place spots at the Philip Invitational Golf Tournament on Friday, April 20, at the Lake Waggoner Golf Course.

The boys' and the girls' both took top team places, while Jordan Smith earned the top individual boys' honors and Tara Ravellette earned the top girls' medalist spot.

The players from the 11 schools had near perfect weather and course conditions. The sun was shining and the course was dry and ready for play.

Smith shot a 77 for first place. Philip's Caleb Clements ended the day with an 89 for fifth place. Allen Hauk had a 91 for seventh place. Kolby Longbrake finished with a 108. Their top three scores totaled 257 to earn first place for the Philip boys' orange team. The Philip boys have enough members to fill two teams of four players each during the tournament. The Philip black team took fourth place with a team score of 317. Richie Baye earned a day's score of 100. Brad Walker, 106; Colton Nickelson, 111; and Jeb Stewart, 134.

The three members of the Philip girls' team earned first place as a team with a total score of 299. Tara Ravellette claimed the top medalist spot with a score of 88. Abby Fitzgerald took eighth place with a 104. Ashley Berry was right behind in ninth place with a 107.

The next varsity golf meet for the Philip Scotties will start at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, at the Newell Invitational in Newell.
