The Range Judging team of the local Philip FFA Chapter competed in the 56th Annual National Range Judging Contest, held May 1 through 3 in Oklahoma City.

The team members were Katie Nelson, Mark Trask, Mick Trask and Troy Guptill.

"While in Oklahoma City, the team was able to tour the Braums Dairy, the Oklahoma City National Memorial, Lazy E Breeding Farm and Arena, and the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Hall of Fame," said advisor Doug Hauk, "as well as spending many long hours in the field practicing."

Competing in the FFA Division of the National Range Judging Contest were 31 teams from across the country. The Philip FFA team placed 13th overall. Individual placings by the Philip area team members were: Katie Nelson - 37th, Mick Trask - 39th, Mark Trask - 59th and Troy Guptill - 64th.

"The team members had a great time and learned a lot about range management practices in other parts of the country," said Hauk. "It was a great learning experience for all."
